We manufacture and sell an established mechanical product for worldwide industrial markets. We sell to industry and OEM equipment manufacturers throughout the world. We are the leader in our market, ISO 9000 certified for quality, and a great place to work. This is a key division of a $30MM sales company.
We seek an individual with experience running a lab, developing test procedures, and seeking out new materials to improve our products or extend our reach. You should have a minimum of a bachelor`s degree in mechanical, materials or chemical engineering.
You will need a broad knowledge of materials (specifically metallics, composite plastics, carbon, carbon fibers). Also a broad knowledge of wear/lubrication.
The objectives of this position are:
- identify promising materials for use as bearings and other wear components
- provide testing support for our manufacturing operation.
Your tasks will include developing test equipment and procedures, testing of existing materials for consistency, testing raw materials to identify new sources, selection materials for evaluation and testing new materials. You will need to analyze and report your results.
You will be a hands-on researcher to include designing and building test equipment and running tests and evaluating results.
You will be called upon to provide guidance to engineering and sales on material use.
General requirements:

highly computer literate
member of ASME, ASLE, AIChEn, or other professional organization
Full or part-time (ideal for a semi-retired researcher who wants a new challenge)
